University of Nebraska � Lincoln Landscape Services - Landscape Services maintains nearly 300 acres of green-space on the City and East campuses. The Campus landscape contains 9,000 trees, over 30,000 shrubs, and a wide variety of herbaceous perennials. The staff of Landscape Services is composed of 41 fulltime personnel and 39 student and temporary personnel. We have staff specialized in a variety of disciplines, including landscape design and planning, irrigation design and installation, nursery production, hard surface maintenance, landscape construction, landscape maintenance, and arboriculture.
Job Description: We are looking for undergraduate level college students wishing to enhance their work experience. Commitments will start in May and will conclude in August. Hours worked are flexible and will be determined at the beginning of the internship, a minimum of 20 hours to a maximum of 40 hours per week.
General Internships: These internships will expose the students to a variety of tree, shrub, turf and herbaceous perennial maintenance. There will also be exposure to: irrigation system installation and maintenance, operation and maintenance of a variety of landscape equipment, nursery operations, landscape planning and design, and landscape construction. The intern will learn techniques in diagnosis and correction of landscape related problems and how to prioritize the completion of projects on a large public landscape. Special projects will be considered if they further the goals of University of Nebraska-Lincoln Landscape Services and can be completed during the period of the internship.

Please note... Horticulture internships are physically demanding and interns may be subject to a variety of environmental factors. Depending on the assignment, tasks involve bending, stretching, climbing and lifting. Interns will be required to work outdoors and must be able to tolerate the extreme weather conditions found in the Upper Great Plains. Interns will also be subjected to strong odors, dust, pollen, insects and other factors consistent with outdoor work.
