"Frithjof Saga": Fritiofs Saga (1825) was composed by the Swedish professor and bishop Esaias Tegner (1782-1846). This cycle of poems, based on an old Icelandic saga, looked to the heroism of the late Middle Ages as a source of moral inspiration. Tegner's very popular work was translated into English fifteen times between 1839 and 1924.
