Lincoln Friends of Foreign Students

Student Information

What is the Lincoln Friends of Foreign Students Program?

Lincoln Friends of Foreign Students is a family friendship program.  International students are matched with local Lincoln families (their "Lincoln Friend").  It is not a Host family program; students do not live with the American family.  The Lincoln families and international students are friends, just as they are friends with others.

What are the Benefits to You?

What are the Activities?

Student and Lincoln Friend activities are entirely up to you and your Lincoln Friend.  LFFS hosts a potluck dinner early in each semester as a means for you and your new Lincoln Friends to meet and get to know each other.

Your Lincoln Friend may invite you to share some family activities such as movies, sporting events, etc.  You may also be invited to family dinners especially during special holidays such as Thanksgiving and Christmas.

You may invite your Lincoln Friend to share some of your activities such as campus events, international student cultural events or hoidays special to you.  You may offer to prepare a meal from your home country or teach your Lincoln Friend some of your language or customs.

How Do I Get a Lincoln Friend?

Student applications may be completed here and are also available at the University of Nebraska International Affairs office.  Applications should be submitted at the beginning of each semester.  Students and Lincoln Friends are matched at the beginning of each semester.
