HALL OF FAME
Procedure for Administration
- The ballot is prepared by the
historian.
- All past presidents are members
of the selection committee.
- Committee members may disqualify
themselves if they do not feel capable of voting.
- A two-thirds vote of all eligible
voters will still be required to elect.
- An appeals committee of two
past presidents and the Hall of Fame chair shall be in place to:
- Review and verify votes,
if contested.
- Appeal for someone who
somehow is unjustly omitted..
Procedure of Election to Hall
of Fame
- Eligibility:
- The February issue of the
Nebraska Music Educator will carry an article soliciting nominations.
- The nomination should
be submitted using the nomination form, which must include a direct
statement of the person's outstanding contributions, a brief biographical
summary and a photo, if possible.
- The historian will serve as
chair of the selection committee which shall be composed of the past presidents
of the organization.
- Following the deadline for
nominations (June 1), the ballots are formulated and distributed to the
other committee members.
- Persons may submit as many
names as they wish, but a name must be submitted by three present or past
music educators before it will appear on the ballot.
- Persons receiving two-thirds
() of the votes are automatically elected.
- Committee members may
cast as many or as few votes as they wish.
- A person must be or have
been a member of NMEA/MENC.
Procedure for dissemination of
information
- Nominators.
- Will be notified that their
nomination has been received.
- Will be notified if their
candidate has received the necessary three letters to be included on the
ballot.
- Will be notified of the results
of the election after the August executive board meeting.
- Electors
- Will receive the ballot in
June with copies of the letters submitted.
- Will be notified in August
of the results.
- Family
- Will be notified upon election
and will:
- Provide photos.
- Provide a list of media,
family members and friends they wish to have notified.
- Update biographical material
- Be informed of the 'awards
and recognition banquet' and how to make reservations.
- Media
- The media release will be
made to coincide with the mail out date of the October issue of the Nebraska
Music Educator magazine.
The Award
- Persons elected will receive a
framed certificate.
- Hall of Fame recipients' photo,
biographical data, professional resume and other pertinent information will
be entered in the archives.
- Complete information will
be solicited by the chair.
- Persons elected will be notified
through the October issue of the Nebraska Music Educator magazine.
- The award will be presented during
the 'annual awards and recognition banquet' at the conference/clinic.
- Past Hall of Fame members
will be introduced.
- The Historian will present
the awards.
- New Hall of Fame members will
be introduced at the All-State final concert of the conference/clinic.
