Hall of Fame

Twenty years ago the NMEA began honoring worthy music educators by inducting them into the NMEA Hall of Fame. The selection committee for this prestigious honor is the NMEA Past Presidents. A ballot is prepared and persons receiving a majority of the votes are elected and so honored. Recipients of this prestigious award are inducted at the annual awards and recognition banquet at the in-service conference/clinic.

Detailed information about the Hall of Fame is included in the February and April issues of the Nebraska Music Educator magazine. An application for submitting names appears in both the February and April issues of the magazine, with a deadline of May 1. NMEA Music Educator of the Year Award

The NMEA Music Educator of the Year award is given in recognition of meritorious service in music education. Nominees for this award should epitomize every fact of excellence in music teaching in Nebraska. Only one award will be given each year. Recipients of this prestigious award are inducted at the annual awards and recognition banquet at the in-service conference/clinic.

NMEA Outstanding Young
Music Educator of the Year Award
The NMEA Outstanding Young Music Educator award is given in recognition of meritorious service and outstanding promise in music education. Nominees for this award should epitomize every facet of excellence in music teaching in Nebraska. More than one nominee may receive this award in a given year. Recipients of this prestigious award are inducted at the annual awards and recognition banquet at the in-service conference/clinic.

Exemplary Program Award
for Model Schools, K-12 Areas, or Districts

The purpose of the Exemplary Program Award is to recognize Nebraska Pre-K through 12 public and private school music programs and their communities that have maintained a long and distinguished tradition of excellence in music education. Recipients of this prestigious award are inducted at the annual awards and recognition banquet at the in-service conference/clinic. DEADLINE: February 1.

Career Teacher Recognition Award
At the annual NMEA In-service Conference/Clinic, the NMEA Executive Board will recognize members who have taught music at least 25 years or any five year increment beyond. Awards will be presented at the annual awards and recognition banquet on Friday night during the conference.

Eligibility requirements are:

If you meet these eligibility guidelines and deserve the recognition for your career commitment to music education, fill out the official nomination form which appears in both the August and October issues of the Nebraska Music Educator magazine, with a deadline of November 10 or click here to print an application blank to fill out and mail.

 
Outstanding School Administrator Award

The purpose of the Outstanding School Administrator award is to recognize administrative support for music education. This award will be made to individuals who have demonstrated active, ongoing support for balanced music programs. Nominations must be submitted by an NMEA member. The award will be presented at the annual awards and recognition banquet at the in-service conference/clinic.

 Music Mentor Program (MMP), as conceptualized by NMEA and the Nebraska Council on Music Teacher Education (NCMTE), is intended to help music educators and administrators with concerns that arise out of the music classroom. This program has been designed to bring together experienced, successful music educators and first or second year teachers who request assistance with any aspect of their music program.
