College Music Education Methods Syllabi

Help! I've never taught . . . before! (you name the course)

At one time or another all music teacher educators face the dilemma of teaching a new course or revising an existing one. On these occasions we look for outside resources, such as course syllabi, to give us an idea of content, sequence of instruction, and assessment tools. Even experienced collegiate instructors who are new to the state appreciate knowing how the various institutions approach teaching methods courses.

The following syllabi by current Nebraska music teacher educators are offered as a resource for our colleagues. The variety of syllabus formats is reflective not only of differing teaching styles, but also of the diversity of our institutions of higher education.

To submit a syllabus for inclusion on these pages please e-mail William Hall, Chair of College/University Affairs whall@acad2.dana.edu
