Redox Biology Center

The Redox Biology Center (RBC) is organized as a broad-based interdisciplinary and multi-institutional entity involving researchers from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) and the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha (UNMC).

Objectives
The specific aims of the COBRE-supported Redox Biology Center (RBC) are to buttress and expand the existing strengths in redox biology in Nebraska by mentoring junior faculty to success, recruiting new faculty with complementary research interests and strategically enhancing biomedical research structure. Scientists are amalgamated from two major research institutions in the state (UNL and UNMC).

Redox Biology Center RFA For Pilot Grants
The Nebraska Redox Biology Center (RBC), funded by a Center for Biomedical Research Excellence grant from the NIH, has awarded pilot funding to two applicants to our RFA request.  The awardees are Dr. Melanie Simpson, Assistant Professor of Biochemistry at UNL for her proposal "Redox Coordinated Extracellular Matrix Remodeling in Cancer", and Dr. Dee Harrison-Findik, Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology-Hepatology Section at UNMC for her proposal "The Redox-mediated Regulation of Iron-Responsive Gene Expression in the Liver". The primary objective of this program is to stimulate research in the area of redox biology and to enhance competitiveness in obtaining extramural support. Learn more...

Membership
The Redox Biology Center welcomes applications from faculty at UNL or UNMC who are interested in being considered for membership. We are particularly interested in further broadening our base to include members whose research interests are in the general area of redox biology and who would benefit from and contribute to the activities sponsored by the RBC. Faculty interested in becoming a member of the Center should contact Dr. Vadim Gladyshev (vgladyshev1@unl.edu or 402-472-2941)
