The creation of the Redox Biology Center has created additional
need for highly motivated individuals to contribute to current
research projects. Employment opportunities are available
at numerous levels.
The University of Nebraska ranks 5th in a survey of postdoctoral
fellows.
Postdoctoral position - Dr. Jay Reddy
Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available immediately for a highly
motivated individual interested in cellular and molecular mechanisms of immune
system activation and autoimmunity. Qualifications: Strong background in molecular
biology, immunology, biochemistry and the ability to work independently and
cooperatively with other members in the laboratory. Candidates with experience
in redox dependent regulation of gene expression, cell signaling and proteomics
and immunomodulatory effects of reactive oxygen species and their inhibitors
are strongly encouraged to apply. Immunological analysis of rodent models is
desired. PhD or MD/DVM, or equivalent required. Salary: competitive and commensurate
with experience. Review of applications will begin immediately, and will continue
until the position is filled or closed. Send application letter, statement
of interest and relevant work experience, CV and 3 references by mail or e-mail
to: Jay Reddy, MVSc, PhD, Associate Professor, Dept. of Veterinary & Biomedical
Sciences, University of Nebraska-Lincoln, 202 VBS, Lincoln, NE 68583-0905;
e-mail: nreddy2@unl.edu. University
of Nebraska-Lincoln is committed to a pluralistic campus community through
Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity; and assures reasonable accommodation
under the Americans With Disabilities Act.
Postdoctoral Position - Dr. Joe Barycki
An NIH-supported postdoctoral position is available immediately
in the area of redox biology/biochemistry. An experienced
and motivated person is sought to perform structural and
biochemical research on enzymes involved in glutathione metabolism. State
of the art X-ray diffraction equipment has recently been
installed, and additional research opportunities are available,
including collaborative projects with members of the recently
established Redox Biology Center. Applicants should
have experience in molecular biology, biochemistry, or protein
chemistry; previous experience in X-ray crystallography,
although helpful, is not required. Salary will be commensurate
with qualifications and experience.
Please submit curriculum vitae, including a summary of research
experience and contact information of three references to jbarycki2@unl.edu
Postdoctoral Position - Dr. Vadim Gladyshev
NIH-supported postdoctoral position is available immediately
in the area of redox biology/biochemistry/bioinformatics. Possible
projects include mechanisms of redox regulation, functional
characterization of selenium-containing proteins, bioinformatics
and functional genomics of thiol-dependent redox proteins
and processes, and animal and cellular cancer and aging models
(see Science (2003) 300, 1439-43; Mol Cell Biol. (2002) 22,
3565; PNAS (2002) 99, 4245; EMBO J. (2002) 21, 3681; Mol
Cell Biol. (2002) 22, 1402.) These projects are closely
linked to our interests in mechanisms of cancer prevention
and aging.
