William Grange (Theatre & Film History)

William Grange is Professor of theatre and film history in the Johnny Carson School.  The author of four books and dozens of essays, book chapters, journal articles, reviews, and encyclopedia entries, he was recently awarded the Distinguished Chair in Humanities and Cultural Studies at the University of Vienna for 2006-2007.  His other awards have included a Dorot Fellowship at the Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center at the University of Texas, a Fulbright Senior Fellowship in 2004; a German Academic Exchange Fellowship in  2003; Hixson-Lied Research Fellowships in 2003 and 2004; the Mellon Prize at the University of Texas in 2002; a Fulbright Guest Professorship teaching in German at the University of Cologne; and several Nebraska Research Council Fellowships.  Prof. Grange teaches academic and performance courses, and  sometimes he even directs productions. He has been an Equity actor for over thirty years, appearing in several professional productions throughout the United States, most recently as Caldwell B. Cladwell in the Broadway musical Urinetown..
