Read the trade magazines and keep up to date with what is happening in your industry.
Computers crash. Always be prepared for the worst technological failures.
After 3pm and before 7:30am the red lot outside of Andersen Hall is open to anyone with a parking pass. Save yourself some energy and some spare change.
Become friends with your advisor and/or teacher(s). Visit him/her often.
Learn to take criticism. The professors and friends that are brutally honest are helping you the most.
Go to every seminar and awards show you can. They are great networking opportunities.
Enter award shows... you have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
Recruit a photography student to take the photos for your ads, or take them yourself.
Great jobs don't just fall in your lap, and now (while in school) is the time to prepare yourself.
Count on the print shop messing it up.
Always believe in yourself, even if you are somewhat naive.
Take advantage of every opportunity to travel. The more experiences you have to pull from the better and more diverse your creative concepts will be.
If your strongpoint is copywriting, team up with a graphic designer, or visa versa.
Journal and sketch every idea – even the bad ones.
Surround yourself with people who inspire you.
Daydream once in a while.
