Colonel Scott Vilter

Lieutenant
Colonel Vilter is the Detachment Commander and Professor of Aerospace
Studies, instructing the senior level classes. He attended the United
States Air Force Academy, graduating in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science
degree in Astronautical Engineering.
Lieutenant
Colonel Vilter is a command pilot with more than 3000 hours in the B-2A,
B-1B, T-38A and T-37.
Major
Ben Berck
Major Ben Berck is the Unit Admissions
Officer and an Assistant Professor of Aerospace Studies, teaching the freshman
and sophomore level courses, AS 100 and AS 200. Major Berck received his
Bachelor of Science degree in Computer and Information Science from the
University of Maryland’s European Division in 1996. He is a 2003 graduate
of Squadron Officer School and a native of Council Bluffs, Iowa. Major
Berck enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1984. He worked as a ground RADAR
technician on RADAR bomb scoring and electronic warfare systems until he
was commissioned in 1997 through the Air Force Officer Training School.
After
commissioning, he served at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida as
the Chief of Spacelift Commander Training and as a Launch Crew Commander of
the Atlas IIAS, medium lift launch vehicle. Later he served at Malmstrom
AFB in Montana as a Minuteman III Launch Crew Commander and as an
Operations Flight Commander.
