Research Interests

I am mainly interested in the cultural side of anthropology, especially the area of applied anthropology. I also have a huge passion for human rights work and plan to incorporate the two together. I am interested in marginalized populations including refugees and peoples afflicted by HIV/AIDS. I am planning to write my thesis on HIV/AIDS discrimination and stigmatization.

Memberships

I am an active member of Amnesty International UNL. I am also an ASUN Senator for the Graduate College. I encourage all graduate students to voice any concerns they have about the University to me.

Teaching Experience

Spring 2006, Teacher's Assistant, Anth. 212: Introduction to Cultural Anthropology

Personal Information

I am originally from Grand Island, Nebraska. My hobbies include travel, yoga, activism, and hanging out with my cat. I hate broccoli, love spinach and drink way too much coffee. I'm also a huge fan of Yanni. You may feel the need to tease me about this, but it's ok if you do. I've grown quite secure in my love for Yanni.
