Claire Brown, B.A., 2003

I am currently working for GIS Workshop, Inc in Lincoln, NE. I am a GIS Technician with many different responsibilities. I have helped three counties in Nebraska re-address from Rural Routes to Physical street addresses. I am an ESRI authorized instructor for Introduction to ArcGIS I course. It has been fun to teach others about GIS because it is a field many do not consider or know about, but it is something we use on a daily basis.

I do not one favorite geography class but if I had to choose it had to be ones taught by Dr. Wishart or Dr. Archer. I have some great memories with the Geography Student Organization with some camping trips and highway clean-up (some interesting things found at the side of the Interstate).

I have been working the geomatics industry in Calgary since I left UNL and completed an MBA in 2005. I am currently the Manager of Projects for the Geomatics Division of Colt Engineering. My favourite class was Advanced Topics in Remote Sensing, taught by Dr. N and Dr. Rundquist. The thing I miss most about UNL is the people. Great students, great staff. Life is not the same with out Joyce and Kathy putting me in my place.

David Merwin, B.A., 1995

Email: damerwin [at] hotmail.com

Currently a 3rd year Ph.D. student in the Department of Geography at the University of Connecticut and teaching and introductory course in GIS at UConn. Hopefully will be done by August 2003. I am also in the dreadful process of looking for assistant professor jobs. If possible, I would like to stay in the New England area. I really miss going to Nebraska Football games. They never put them on TV enough here in the Northeast.

Shawn Slade, M.A., 2007

Major: Geography, with a Specialization in Geography/Remote Sensing

Thesis Title: "A Comparative Analysis of Per-Pixel Classification Techniques Versus Boolean Logic Classification Techniques: An Economical and Practical Approach"

Currently I work for Leica Geosystems selling airborne digital cameras and LiDAR sensors. Previously, I was the Western Regional Sales Manager for Sanborn Mapping, and prior to that I worked for 5 1/2 years at Leica Geosystems GIS & Mapping selling and training on ERDAS IMAGINE and Leica Photogrammetry Suite software.

Away from work, I have 2 daughters who keep me very busy. I have also taken up the sport of Marathon Running in a goal to run one in each of the 50 states. As if that weren't enough, I have now decided to put my body through the rigors of triathlons and road cycling.
