Brown Water Scorpion

The Brown Waterscorpion (Ranatra fusca) lives among the bottom vegetation and detritus of shallow freshwater ponds and lakes. It has a slender sticklike body and a pair of tail-like breathing tubes. It injects a mixture of anaethetising and digestive juices into its prey which include other insects, tadpoles, salamanders, and small fish.
