Why Rush AGS?

Believe it or not, your high school career has, or soon will come to an end. You have already made a number of major decisions that will affect you for the rest of your life. Although you may not believe it, you are again going to be faced with another important decision. Where you deiced to live while at college can have a dramatic impact on you life. It may determine how much you enjoy college; it may affect your scholastic achievement, and eventually will impact how successful you become in the game of life.

Fraternity Education

One of the greatest challenges that incoming freshman have to deal with is the transition from high school to a college environment. The development of a successful new member includes an education in several areas. Not only does fraternity education focus on teachings of the fraternity, but it also teaches personal motivation, time management, study skills and attainable goal setting. Education does not stop after your first year in AGS. Education continues on into your college career as well as throughout the rest of your life. Students in AGS are encouraged to better themselves as students, leaders, friends and "brothers."

In no way will be asked to do or participate in any activities, which could be labeled as hazing. Alpha Gamma Sigma Fraternity does not tolerate hazing in any form.

You are selected for membership based on the individual qualities and values that you display during rush. The objective of our fraternity education program is to help you further clarify those values and concentrate on your strengths, while participating in the brotherhood of our Fraternity. The recruitment process brings all active members as well as new members together. The education process challenges these men to use their talents and reach their potential. The diversity within our fraternity is what makes us one of the strongest fraternities on campus.

Scholarship

At Alpha Gamma Sigma Fraternity, striving for academic excellence is our constant goal. With such a commitment to excellence, it is easy to see why Alpha Gamma Sigma's GPA is consistently above the All-University GPA, the All-Male GPA, and is near the top of the All-Fraternity GPA.

Alpha Gamma Sigma is very lucky to have an excellent environment in which to study. The recent addition of a new conference room has given our house the opportunity to enhance our study aides so that every member can benefit.

These aides include a test file system, nightly quite hours, six house computers, two laser printers, a copier, a fax machine, a DTN machine, wireless e-mail and Internet access throughout the facility, resume and activities files, and a scanner.

One of the biggest adjustments new members must make to college life is to learn time management and study skills. To aid new members in this transition, AGS also ha a rotational study program to help acquaint new members with good study habits and active members.
