The Northern Californians for Nebraska initiated a scholarship fund several years ago. The objective of this program is to provide assistance to deserving high school graduates from Northern California who wish to continue their education in the University of Nebraska system.

The NCFN hosts an annual University of Nebraska Founders' Day event in Sacramento, This year's event was held on February 17, 2001 in Sacramento.   Dave Gillespie, running backs coach and San Jose native was the guest speaker.  The coach gave us a short recap of last year's football season and a run-down on the prospects for 2001.  

Coach Gillespie had a few words to say about each of the recruits for this year.  The normal diplomatic characterization is to refer to such a presentation is to call it guarded optimism or some similar phrase.  However, Coach Gillespie's optimism this year seemed to be less guarded than many we've heard. 
 

 NEWSLETTER
  

Another feature of membership in the Northern Californians for Nebraska is the semi-annual newsletter. The newsletter provides information about the chapter and its activities and updates from the university. Feature stories about the distant and no-so-distant past appear regularly.
  

 OTHER ACTIVITIES
 
The NCFN chapter hosts additional activities periodically including picnics and golf tournments. Watch this page for news of upcoming events.
