American Mathematics Competitions

AMC 8

ARIZONA

As long as I can get funding, I will make sure my school participates. ....P.S. - Thanks for the large print practice problems in back of handbook!! P.P.S. - Great assortment of problems!!

CALIFORNIA

The problems are always challenging and interesting. They align with the topics we are supposed to cover in 7th & 8th grade, so keep up the good work.

FLORIDA

I think the contest gave the students a different and better outlook on Math. They realized they could think "outside the box" without having to be coached every step of the way. We practiced in groups and thoroughly enjoyed the challenge.

GEORGIA

This is our first year to participate in the contest. I have enjoyed going over the practice problems with our math classes and seeing them think through the questions. Thanks for making it available.

LOUISIANA

This is our first year. We are using this test as a way to encourage our best students to compare themselves to outside students and to raise others by showing them how good they can be at junior-high level. This is a multi-year plan.

NEBRASKA

Always a great contest. The summary helps me key in on strengths/weaknesses of a particular class. I use it for a Math Counts Coaching tool, too.

NEW YORK

My students were so nervous and excited! They tried their best even though they are mostly 6th graders. We're looking forward to more contests! Thank you.

NORTH CAROLINA

Thank you for the prompt feedback. We are indeed thrilled with this our first-year efforts. We look forward to working with your supportive, outstanding program.

The test is extremely challenging. We will definitely register again next year.

PENNSYLVANIA

Stimulating Contest. The kids actually enjoyed it -- and also felt they were part of a national secret when instructed they must maintain academic integrity and not discuss the test questions until Nov. 25th.

SOUTH CAROLINA

The students enjoy seeing their name in print in a book. This is much more personal than on a computer in a file stored somewhere! The students enjoy reading about other states, other schools -- in fact a student who recently moved here checked to see his "friends" in the book. I bet his name will be in it this year.

TEXAS

I feel this test is important for our kids because we do not give timed tests. This provides our students with a valuable experience in testing and different kinds of problems.

The problems are challenging to students. An overall view of mathematics in all angles. An inspiration for students to learn mathematics.

WASHINGTON

I like getting the detailed analysis of what percent of my students made which errors. The error analysis helps me identify topics that need more attention.
