AMC 10 / AMC 12

Administration Ruling

EARLY ADMINISTRATION is NEVER permitted and will lead to a disqualification of the results. Such an administration would jeopardize the validity of all scores from nearby and distant schools.

OFFICIAL ADMINISTRATION - The AMC 10 and AMC 12, will be given officially each year only on the designated days. For the 2009-2010 school year these days are:
Contest A on Tuesday, February 10, 2010 (the week before Presidents' Day) and
Contest B on Wednesday, February 25, 2010 (the week after Presidents' Day).
so that the two dates are approximately two weeks apart. Giving the Contest Presidents week is avoided. Official participants, their school and their teacher are eligible for National Awards. In addition, official participants are eligible for all intramural awards and consideration for participation in the AIME.

This year there will be no unofficial period after the official date to take the contest. Contest managers may allow the students to keep the exam booklet when the contest is finished.

If you are unable to give Contest A on Tuesday, February 10, 2010 because:

  1. your school is closed,
  2. your school has an academic conflict,
  3. the class periods have been shortened due to an assembly or other reason,

then you may give the second version of the contests (AMC 10 B/AMC 12 B) on the second official day, Wednesday, February 25, 2010. You may still take either exam unofficially on later dates, but those contests will not be eligible for state and national awards and will not be eligible for participation in the AIME. Unofficial participants are still eligible for intramural awards. It is important to note that the only days eligible for official participation are the two official Contest days: February 10, and February 25, 2010.
