IMO

I have just returned from observing the coordination this afternoon. Zuming and Ian are
working very hard to get the best possible results for the team. They coordinated
(agreed on scoring with the judges) for two of the problems already, with a third
pending. Three more problems will be coordinated tomorrow. Medal lines will be set
after that, probably late tomorrow, or more likely early on Sunday. You can watch the

doesn't load, it's getting a pounding at the IMO headquarters where coordination is
taking place, and it went down several times this afternoon. Right now, scores for the
usual high-scoring teams are not up, so it is hard to estimate how we are doing relative
to the other usual top countries.

I talked to several of the other Leaders and the general assessment is that this IMO is
particularly hard, with a couple of especially subtle questions. Estimates at this point
are unreliable, but the guesses are that medal lines will be lower than some previous
years.

The students went on an excursion today, and at least they came to Ha Long Bay area
for lunch, since I saw them here. I do not know what else they may have done today in
addition to the bus ride. I think everyone is doing well, and I am sure they are starting
to relax.
