Our new members play a very important role in our house, as they are the future of Alpha Phi. We have a six-week orientation period before these members are initiated into Alpha Phi. Once a week, usually after Monday night meetings, new members meet with the Pledge Educator to learn more about our national fraternity and our chapter. This time is spent learning about each aspect of the sorority: scholarship, social, WATCHCARE, philanthropy, campus involvement, Alpha Phi history and member orientation. The meeting time not only allows the new members to learn more about the fraternity, but to spend time together as a pledge class and begin to form the "ties which unite."
During the orientation period the new members have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of activities. Some of these activities include Pledge Mom/Daughter, All-House Takeover (decorating for the Holidays), Sneak to another Alpha Phi Chapter, Inspiration Week and Initiation.
Each semester our chapter sets aside a special time for an "all-house" event on a Friday night. We also strongly encourage chapter participation with philanthropic events, sisterhood support, recruitment activities and senior week.
