- Soliders with two years of college remaining to complete their degree are considered for two-year scholarships.
- Soldiers wtih three years of college remaining to complete their degree are considered for three-year scholarships
- Soldiers without college credit who require four years to complete their degree are considered for four-year scholarships.
Benefits
Green to Gold Scholarship Option winners receive:
- Tuition or room and board support.
- Additional money for textbooks, supplies, and equipment.
- A monthly stipend for up to 10 months each school year that increases each year based on your Military Science Class.
- Pay for attending the Leader Development and Assessment Course (LDAC) between the junior and senior years of college.
- If qualified, Montgomery G.I. Bill / Army College Fund (MGIB/ACF) benefits.
- Additionally, many colleges and universities offer incentives to scholarship winners. The Professor of Military Science (PMS) at your college of choice can provide further information on what is available at the school.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizen (non-waiverable)
- Age - Be under 31 years of age on 31 December of the year you complete all requirements for a commission and a college baccalaureate degree. This is a statutory requirement and there are no waivers authorized.
- Cannot have been convicted of a Domestic Violence Crime.
- Have a minimum of 2 years Active Duty as well as 3 months of Active Duty for every one months of specialized training (waiver can be requested).
- GT score of 110 or greater.
- Pass the APFT within the last 6 months with score of 180 or higher, minimum of 60 points in each event.
- Be a High School Graduate or equivalent.
- Cumulative High School or College GPA of 2.5
- Letter of Acceptance to School of Choice offering Army ROTC
- Letter of Acceptance from the PMS of that Army ROTC Battalion
- Favorable National Agency Check (or have initiated the action)
- DODMERB Medical Qualification
- Be eligible to Reenlist
- Not be a conscientious objectoer
- No more than 3 dependents including spouse (waiverable)
Two Years to Officership
The Green to Gold Two-Year Non-Scholarship Option Program is available to soldiers who have completed two yars of college, and who can complete their college degree requirements in two years.
Benefits

Green to Gold Non-Scholarship Option members can also participate in the Simultaneous Membership Program (SMP). As SMPs, Soldiers are members of either a drilling Reserve or Guard unit and ROTC. SMPs are entitled to Reserve Component pay of E-5 undert this program.
Also, many states offer tuition assistance to Reserve and National Guard Soldiers.
In addition to the financial incentives, Soldiers receive additional benefits as ROTC Cadets. Thse benefits include:
- Leadership training
- Responsibility and Practical Experience
- Mentorship of the PMS/APMS
- Camaraderie
Requirements
- Age - Under 30 years old on 30 June of the year you commission (Waivers can be granted)
- PMS can grant waiver up to 32 years
- For those over 32, waiver requests are forwarded to HQs, Cadet Command
- Have a favorable recommendation from Chain of Command
- Have Completed 2 years of College and be accepted as an Academic Junior
- Have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale
Simultaneous Membership Program
This is a program in which Sophomore, Junior, and Senior ROTC cadtes simultaneously serve as members of the Army National Guard or Army Reserve and ROTC. Cadets participating in this program are non-deployable. Non-Contracted cadets (freshman and sophomores) are not eligible to participate in the SMP and are deployable.
- Guaranteed Reserve Forces Duty is a Scholarship available only to SMP Cadets.
- Federal Tuition Assistance is available.
- State Tuition Assistance is also available.
- SMP Cadets may also receive assistance through the Montgomery GI Bill and Kicker.
GFRD Scholarship
Guaranteed Reserve Forces Duty (GFRD) scholarships are available through the ARNG for students that desire to participate in the Senior ROTC program. These scholarships guarantee that the student once graduated from school and commissioned int he U.S. Army must serve their obligation in the ARNG. ARNG scholarships are available in the following lenghts: 2, 2.5, and 3-years. To be eligible for the scholarships the student must have exactly that amount of school remaining. For example, to be eligible for the two-year scholarship the student must have exactly two eyars of school remaining; to be eligible for the 2.5-year scholarship the student must have exactly 2.5 years of school remaining. Contact the Professor of Military Science (PMS) at your schools Army ROTC departmetn to determine specific eligibility requirements.
These scholarships pay up to $20,000 for tuition and fees or room &board. The student can choose which option they desire. In addition, a $1200 per year book allowance is paid to the student. Also, a cadet stipend is paid per month to the student in the following amounts: $350 for the sophomore year, $450 for the junior year, and $500 for the senior year. If eligible for Chapter 1606 or Chapter 30 Montgomery GI Bill (MGIB), see PMS to determine eligibility, the student is paid an additional $350 per month MGIB kicker. The ARNG scholarship student must participate in the Simultaneous Membership Program (SMP) with an ARNG unit while in school. While in the program the student drills with an ARNG unit and is paid at the rank of E-5, approximately $225 per month, unless the student is already in the ARNG and holds a rank higher than E-5.
Federal Tuition Assistance
- Available for all Non-Scholarship Cadets (including MSIs and MSIIs) who are drilling Reservists or Guardsmen - No MOS requirement
- Federal TA amounts - ARNG TA pays $250.00 per credit hour, not to exceed $4500 per year - USAR TA pays $250.00 per credit hour, not to exceed $4500 per year

VA Benefits Montgomery GI Bill &Kicker
- Selected Reserve Montgomery GI Bill (Chapter 1606) - Currently pays $288 per month for full time enrollment for MOS Qualified GRFD Scholarship and non-scholarship cadets - Must have a minimumof six years remaining on current enlistment
- Active Duty Montgomery GI Bill (Chapter 30) - Currently pays $1004 per month for full time enrollment for MOS Qualified GRFD Scholarship and non-scholarship cadets
- Montgomery GI Bill Kicker USAR / ARNG - Pays additional $350 per month for enlisted soldiers in oofficer producing programs who are receiving the Montgomery GI Bill and participating in the GRFD program
