Application Overview
The Department of Art and Art History has an entirely online application system. The application for the MA in Art History has two parts, and the application for the MFA in Studio Art has three parts. Due to a waiting period between parts one and two, the application will require several days to complete.It is recommended that you start part 1 no later than January 25th.
The application deadline is February 1st.
Part One: Online Application for Admission
Part Two: Graduate Admission Management and Evaluation System (GAMES)
Students will upload a portfolio of 20 images (complete with titles and descriptions) to our Slideroom© portal. A link is provided at the end of the application on GAMES. Complete instructions including images size and formats, are provided on the Slideroom© site. Upon completing the portfolio submission, the applicant will be provided with a confirmation number, which should then be submitted to GAMES, completing the application process.
Once the entire application is complete it will be forwarded to the department faculty members for review. Applicants will be notified as soon as admissions decisions are complete.

- A $50 non-refundable application processing fee
- One (1) set of transcripts uploaded into MyRed
- If your native language is not English: verification of English proficiency
- If you are not a US citizen and you expect to hold an F or J visa: financial resource information
Part Two: Graduate Admission Management and Evaluation System (GAMES)
- Three recommendation letters (you will be asked to provide the names and email addresses for those writing a letter on your behalf. Each person will receive an email from GAMES requesting a recommendation letter and each will each be provided with a link for online letter submission).
- A Statement of goals and objectives (uploaded in PDF format)
- For International Students, Minimum TOEFL: Paper-550 Internet-79
