Philanthropy means a great deal to the women of Alpha Xi Delta. Philanthropy is a
group of sisters dedicating their time and efforts for a meaningful cause. Unlike
many other Greek organizations, Alpha Xi Delta is not exclusively linked with one
philanthropic organization. Alpha Xi Delta gives members the flexibility to look in
their communities and decide how they can best help children.
The women of Rho Chapter choose to support the Make-a-Wish Foundation. Since
aligning with the organization over five years ago, fundraising from the chapter has
allowed five children to realize their wishes - three to Disney World, one to New
York City, and one to a Rolling Stones concert.
Tiki Roast & Fiesta Feed are the two main philanthropic events hosted by Alpha
Xi Delta. Tiki Roast is planned in the fall with the help of the men of Pi Kappa
Alpha. In the spring, students from all across campus pile into the Alpha Xi Delta
dining room for a night of all-you-can-eat nachos, prizes, and fun.
Following each event, representatives from the Make-a-Wish Foundation and the wish
child's family attend a Monday night dinner. This provides a great opportunity for
all members to see the impact they have made. Also, several Alpha Xi Deltas have
volunteered as Make-a-Wish Wish Granters - liaisons between the funding group and
the child's family.
