Founded in 1879, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln band program has grown from a single small ROTC band to encompass seven ensembles that perform for a combined audience of well over one million people annually.

The School of Music at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln enthusiastically invites all students, regardless of academic major, to participate in one or more of our bands.  Additional information about each of our band ensembles is available under the ensemble link in the index to the left.  Auditions for the fall concert and jazz ensembles are scheduled for the first week of classes in August. We encourage you to explore the rich tradition of our band program.

Current Events

The 2008 brass, woodwind and percussion auditions for the Cornhusker Marching Band and the Big Red Express pep band are scheduled for May 3rd, May 24th and June 7th. Color guard auditions are June 7th (all day session).

The Cornhusker Summer Marching Band Camp for high school students (entering 9th grade through leaving 12th grade) and the Middle School Band Camp (entering 6th grade through leaving 8th grade) are scheduled for July 13th through July 17th.

The CORNHUSKER SUMMER MUSIC GAMES DCI Show is scheduled for 7:30 PM on Monday, July 14th in Memorial Stadium. Tickets are on sale through DCI at www.dci.org/tickets/. Tickets can also be ordered via phone at 317/275-1212 ext. 3.
