Founded in 1879, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln band program has grown from a single small ROTC band to encompass seven ensembles that perform for a combined audience of well over one million people annually.

The School of Music at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln enthusiastically invites all students, regardless of academic major, to participate in one or more of our bands.  Additional information about each of our band ensembles is available under the ensemble link in the index to the left.  Auditions for the fall concert and jazz ensembles are scheduled for the first week of classes in August. We encourage you to explore the rich tradition of our band program.

Auditions

Audition recordings will be accepted for the Cornhusker Marching Band and Big Red Express pep band prior to July 1st. Students interested in the Big Red Express may also auditon during the first week of classes in August. See the audition pages for more information.

Summer Camps

Summer Jazz Band Camp, June 28-July 2, 2009 (NEW!). Registration deadline is May 25th.
Cornhusker Summer Marching Band Camp, July 12-16, 2009. Registration dedline is June 12th.
Middle School Band Camp, July 12-16, 2009. Registration deadline is June 12th.
