Jillian McCarthy is currently in her first year as a PhD student. Her research interests include Alternative Augmentative Communication (AAC), Autism, and Literacy. Jillian completed her Bachelor's of Arts degree in 2001 at Mount Holyoke College, in Developmental Psychology and Elementary Education. She completed her Master's of Science in Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2004. Before returning to school, Jillian worked as a speech-language pathologist at East Tennessee Children's Hospital in Knoxville, Tennessee and Knox County Child Development Services in Rockland, Maine. Jillian chose to purse her PhD through the University of Nebraska-Lincoln because of Dr. Beukelman's expertise in the area of AAC, in addition to his mentoring and leadership in the field. |
