Dixie Sanger is a Professor specializing in language development and disorders as well as language and literacy. She teaches courses in normal language development, language disorders in elementary school-age populations, and language disorders in preadolescents and adolescents. She has developed several seminars on language and literacy topics. Her present research efforts focus on the communication skills of female juvenile delinquents and topics related to language and literacy.
Dr. Sanger has presented at numerous regional and national meetings addressing the language, communication, and literacy issues of children and youth. She is currently co-director of a federal grant to train graduate students majoring in Speech-Language Pathology to collaborate with teachers to develop literacy in children and adolescents with language disorders. She is a Fellow of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and a member of ASHA's Special Interest Divisions (1 and 16) for Language, Learning and Education and for School Based Issues.
