Deanne Splattstoesser, Ed.S., CCC-SLP is a lecturer, clinical supervisor, and grant coordinator specializing in child language and its effect on communication, behavior and learning. She also has special interests in language literacy; educational administration and supervision; and educational technology. Within the Department, Deanne teaches a graduate clinical module in counseling and behavior issues in communication disorders; an undergraduate honors clinic; and the lab section of a course in preschool language disorders. She also supervises graduate students in the Barkley Speech, Language and Hearing Clinic. Practica include evaluation and intervention services for language literacy of preschool and school age children. The practica is designed to prepare future speech-language pathologists to help improve literacy and academic performance of children with language challenges. Another of Deanne’s roles in SECD is that of grant coordinator for Project Support: Speech-Language Pathologists Supporting Literacy Instruction, a personnel preparation grant funded by the U.S. Office of Special Education (OSEP). The project prepares speech-language pathologists with specialization in collaborative delivery of literacy services for children with communication disorders. Professional leadership includes serving on the Executive Board of the Nebraska Speech-Language-Hearing Association (NSHLA). She is webmaster of the NSLHA website (www.nslha.org). She is also a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), including Special Interest Division 11—Administration and Supervision. In addition, she is a member of the Nebraska Association of School Administrators (NASA) and the Nebraska Association of Special Education Supervisors (NASES). |
