Gary Meers, Ed.D. is a professor of career and vocational planning for persons with disabilities.  He created and is the executive director of the Cadre for Community and Human Resource Development.  The Cadre provides training, model development, and research on an international basis for schools, governments, and individuals.  He teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in the areas of career planning, vocational evaluation, and transition.  In addition, he spends a major portion of his time mentoring doctoral students.

Dr. Meers focuses his research in the area of providing transition models for adjudicated youth with disabilities.  He has created a number of career exploration and mentoring models for use with this unique population group.  He is the author of numerous articles in this area.

As a result of his work, he has been selected to serve on a number of international policy groups that have been charged with developing strategies of transition for high risk youth.  In addition, he has been the recipient of numerous awards recognizing his leadership in the area of career planning and transition.  Each summer he conducts a national week long institute on transition that assists in the creation of transition implementation teams.
