What courses are required before I can apply to the program?

TEAC 331 ("Cultural Foundations of American Education")  or CEHS 200 ("Family, School & Community")

EDPS 250 ("Fundamentals of Child Development")

TEAC 297A ("Professional Practicum")

COMM 109 ("Fundamentals of Human Communication") or 205 ("Performance of Literature") or 209 ("Public Speaking") or 210 ("Small Group Problem Solving")

SPED 201 ("Introduction to Special Education") or 400 ("Characteristics of Exceptional
Persons")

TEAC 259 ("Instructional Technology")

What additional requirements are there?

Current UNL students must have a minimum GPA of 2.5, 30 completed hours, PPST, Level 1 Tech Requirement

When can I apply?

You may apply either September 15 or February 1 of your sophomore year.

What is the application process?

You will make 3 copies of the following items and bring them to room 61 in Henzlik Hall by 11 a.m. on the date of application.

Application: Oath of Honesty, Application Essay (4-6 pages), Practicum (TEAC 297A) final evaluations from your cooperating and UNL supervising instructor.

How soon must I take the PPST?

It takes 4-6 weeks for us to receive your results, so make sure you take it a few months before applying.

Where can I get the forms and applications?

You may get all forms and applications by making an appointment with Denise Howell (402-472-8643), the Academic Advisor for the Dual program.  You can make an appt. on-line by going to:  http://cehs.unl.edu/currentStudents/advisors.shtml or at 105 Henzlik Hall.  472-8643
