After completion of 21 hours of special education coursework (including undergraduate hours) a student is eligible for a provisional SPED K-6 Mild/Moderate Disabilities endorsement.

Courses Remaining to Complete a Masters Degree in Special Ed

Application to the Masters Degree program in Special Education and Communication Disorders is required to complete this option.

The student would need 12 hours of graduate coursework beyond the 24 hours listed above. These courses would be selected to meet the requirements of the Graduate College and would include a 3-hour educational research course. (36 hours, including the 24 listed above.)

It is also possible to add graduate endorsements in specialized disability areas. If you are interested in these specialty endorsements rather than the Mild/Moderate Disabilities endorsement, please see an advisor in the Department of Special Education and Communication Disorders.
