Andrews and Burnett Gardens
Covering approximately 4,000 square feet, Andrews and Burnett Gardens bring to life a mixture of sensual delights throughout the year. From spring's early bulbs, through summer's masses of colorful blossoms, to winter's textures and hues visitors can experience a wide variety of delights. These gardens are designed to take advantage of their southern exposure and as a result they are usually the first to bloom on campus each year. The gardens also serve as a transition area between a heavily travelled walkway and the Andrews and Burnett academic buildings . Consequently, the plants must be able to withstand the heat of the summer sun as well as the reflected heat from the nearby sidewalk and buildings.
Another unique characteristic is the garden's position in the middle of campus. Benches are placed along the walk offering the visitor the opportunity to sit back, relax, and enjoy the garden's comforts and campus activities. Andrews and Burnett Gardens are truly a "refreshing" experience. |
