Bill Watts is the newest member of the Career Services staff and joins the office after serving over 6 years as Assistant Dean of Student Success in the UNL College of Arts and Sciences.  He has worked in higher education for over 15 years and began his career as an academic advisor at the University of Missouri-Columbia.  Bill is particularly interested in helping students connect their interests and abilities as well as their academic curriculum to quality opportunities for internships, jobs and graduate or professional school.  In addition to directing Career Services, Bill coordinates campus-wide advising initiatives and provides oversight to the Exploratory and Pre-Professional Advising Center which serves undeclared, pre-health and pre-law students. 

Bill serves on several campus wide committees, including the Advising Coordinating Board and the Enrollment Management Committee. He has received the UNL Parents Association Certificate of Recognition for Contributions to Students in 2011 and 2013. In addition he received the Outstanding Service Award at Minnesota State University, Mankato in 2007 and has been nominated for several other advising/service awards, including UNOPA’s Boss of the Year award, the University of Missouri’s Excellence in Advising and Minnesota State’s Dean’s Diversity Award.  Bill grew up in the Minneapolis/St. Paul and Denver areas.  He is actively involved in the Lincoln community including spending several years coaching youth soccer and hockey.
