On-Campus Jobs Search

Many on-campus jobs are filled by word-of-mouth or through in-house advertisements and so will not necessarily appear on Career Services' web site or on the Student Job Boards, so in addition to monitoring Career Services' on-campus job web site, identify UNL departments or programs of interest to you. On the UNL web site, www.unl.edu, you will find information on nearly every program and service provided by the University. In developing your "targets," consider such things as:

Your interests
  • Enjoy the arts? Try the Lied Center. Sports? Campus Recreation. The outdoors? Landscape Services, etc.
Your major or career goals
  • The department's office or an individual professor may need some assistance.
  • Other UNL services active in that area, for example, the Payroll Department for an accounting major, or the Speech & Hearing Clinic for a Special Education major, etc.
Call or visit departments or programs which you find interesting. Simply state that you are interested in the possibility of working for the department (or program, or professor, etc.) and ask what type of student opportunities might be available within the department. If a department indicates that they are not accepting applications at this time, ask when they anticipate hiring again and inquire as to how their opportunities will be advertised. Check back with employers of interest periodically to ensure that you do not miss out on an opportunity!
