Prince William Sound Aquaculture Corporation, PWSAC is a private non-profit corporation founded in 1974 by a local commercial fishermen's organization. The purpose of the corporation is to optimize the value of the salmon resources produced in Prince William Sound for all user groups. With headquarters in Cordova, Alaska, PWSAC operates four remote salmon hatcheries in Prince William Sound and one on the Copper River system in Paxson. Cook positions function as the commissary staff at the hatchery sites, providing daily food service, maintaining the commissary consistent with health codes and ensuring cleanliness of the dormitory common areas. The ideal applicant for a Lead Cook position would have cooking, food ordering and meal planning experience. The Alaska Food Worker Card is required. Wages begin at $13.00 and $11.00 per hour respectively, with free room and board. Temporary positions may be as short as four weeks or as long as ten months. A large percentage of employees are rehired to fill available positions. We begin the new hiring process each December. Four of our five hatcheries are truly remote; there are no roads, stores, or any other people living nearby. The sites are modern (it is not a tent camp!), TVs, telephones and Internet are available.
