Interns and Co-op Report - Academic Year 2008-2009

In 2008-09, 1,359 internships or co-ops by 938 individuals in 625 organizations were reported to Career Services by the student, the employer, or academic department. This does not reflect interns who worked solely with a faculty member or academic department. Although Career Services has expanded outreach efforts, there are likely UNL students who participated in internships that are not recorded in this report. 

Of those that specified a time frame:

  • 49% were over the summer
  • 25% were in the fall
  • 24% were in the spring
  • 2% were a semester/summer co-op

WAGES

Of the 528 internships or co-ops reporting a wage, the average was $11.91/hour ($11.68 undergraduate, $13.73 graduate). The lowest reported wage was $6.00/hour and the highest was $33.75/hour.

ACADEMIC CREDIT

Career Services does not always receive information regarding whether Academic Credit was pursued in conjunction with an internship. However, 50 internships were reported as being for academic credit for a total of 115 credit hours. Colleges and departments differ in their practices regarding academic credit. Some students pursue credit outside of their department or College.
