People in the Brassil lab conduct work in theoretical ecology using tools from mathematics, statistics, and computer programming to address questions in population and community ecology.

Research includes the use of mathematical biology to develop basic ecological theory.  Projects also involve complex statistical analysis of a variety of data sets through colloborative work.  Finally, our most integrative approach uses duckweed communities to test theoretical ideas in an empirical system.

Teaching and coursework emphasize quantitative, critical thinking skills across the range of ecological disciplines.  Outreach such as the Duckweed Project bring hands-on, inquiry learning to elementary students and college students alike.
