Thank you for our progress

University of Nebraska-Lincoln community and friends-

As we enter into a slight pause in the rigors and work of our semester and academic pursuits, I wanted to convey to you how thankful I am for our great university, for the noble mission we carry forward every day and for the amazing progress we are making in growing and expanding our reach and impact in Nebraska and around the world. We are indeed fortunate.

Living by our core values

Students, faculty and staff,

I wake up every morning thankful for the opportunities of freedom of thought, the opportunities we have to continually learn and expand our horizons through new knowledge, and the opportunities to apply that learning to better our country and world. I am thankful for each and every person in our community, for your intellectual, emotional, creative and physical contributions to our university -- and for the opportunity to change the world for the better every day through the University of Nebraska here in Lincoln and across our statewide campus.

Budget and next steps

Colleagues-

Last Monday, Oct. 31, I mentioned in a university-wide leadership town hall that we had begun studying the state’s fiscal reports to predict what impacts we might face at the university due to recent state revenue forecasts being lowered for the current fiscal year (2017) and the coming next biennium (2018-19).

Prospective Student Visits

As the University of Nebraska-Lincoln grows in stature and enrollment, we attract more and more attention. One exciting result is the increasing number of high school students who visit campus. These students take tours and participate in events as they evaluate our programs and environment to determine if Nebraska is where their hopes and dreams will take shape.
