Mike Lippman is an Assistant Professor of Practice in the Classics Department. He received his Ph.D. from Duke University and has taught at Emory and the University of Arizona before coming to Nebraska. His primary field of research is Ancient Drama, particularly Aristophanic Comedy, but he teaches all over the Classics curriculum. Recent courses taught include Greek and Latin as well as "Sparta"- a classroom social experiment which applies ancient political practices in a modern pedagogical setting and he is developing several new courses; one on ancient athletics and one on ancient democracy. He is currently working on numerous research projects involving Aristophanes and Euripides, an article on the modern Greek poet Cavafy, and a paper on the Classicist Gilbert Murray.
