East Campus Activities Building Cardiovascular Area

The Cardiovascular Area is open to all members of Campus Recreation during regular facility hours. All users are expected to read and abide by the Strength Training and Conditioning Room Policies, which are the same for the cardio area. |
A cardio workout is great for getting your heart rate up. As the exercise begins, your Heart Rate (HR) will instantaneously rise. The objective is to keep the HR in your target Heart Rate Zone, which is 55-85% of of your theoretical maximum HR. Without an appropriate orientation you will not be able to select a workout intensity that will keep your HR in this range.
10 second Heart Rate Checks:
Place two fingers on the radial (thumb side of the wrist) or carotid (neck) pulse. Begin counting at one and continue to count for 10 seconds. The chart below may be helpful in ensuring a safe and effective training rate.
