Nebraska Sports Officials Association(NSOA)
The Nebraska Sports Officials Association (NSOA) is a sport club student organization at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, which is committed to providing student development opportunities in officiating while serving our clients in a professional manner.
All members are current or former Intramural Sports officials at UNL. These officials vary in experience from officials who work a full varsity schedule to young intramural officials who have minimal experience wanting to improve their skills at this rewarding profession.
Members can hold an elected position in the association, administer tournaments and special events, travel to extramural tournaments, make extra money and receive awards for their contribution, hard work and dedication. All members are expected to attend the meetings and be involved in all association projects.
Events sponsered by the organization in the past include the University of Nebraska Regional Flag Footbll Tournament, Target Regional Volleyball Tournament, Schick 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament, and the Junior National High School Basketball Tournament.
The Nebraska Sports Officials Association is one of only five student officials associations in the country represented in both the flag football and basketball national championship events. NSOA officials have been selected to officiate in some of the most prestigious tournaments in the country, including:
- The Eastbay National Flag Football Tournament in New Orleans, Louisiana (7 Representatives - the most of any school officiating in the tournament, and 1 All-American)
- The Target 5 on 5 National Basketball Tournament in Orlando, Florida (1 Representative)
- The Target 5 on 5 National Volleyball Tournament in Orlando, Florida (4 Representatives)
- The Cornell University NIRSA Regional Flag Football Tournament
- The Ohio State University NIRSA Regional Flag Football Tournament
- The Arizona State University NIRSA Regional Flag Football Tournament
- The Augustana University Target 5-on-5 Regional Basketball Tournament
- The University of Arizona NIRSA Regional Basketball Tournament
- The University of Nebraska Eastbay.com Regional Flag Football Tournament
- The University of Nebraska Target Regional Volleyball Tournament
Next year NSOA officials will again travel the span of the country demonstrating the quality of officiating that has become expected of our association.
