An exciting & fun alternative to traditional exercise, the indoor climbing wall is a simulated rock formation affixed with numerous hand and foot holds that provides mental & physical challenges to build strength, endurance, and self-confidence. A popular activity of students, the 2600+ sq .ft. climbing wall is a unique experience that offers numerous climbing routes, an artificial crevice, and an 45 degree overhang. The indoor climbing wall is located in the Campus Recreation Center and essential equipment, including seat harness, belay device, and climbing rope, are provided. Additional gear such as climbing shoes and chalk bags can be rented at Husker Red's. Group rentals available - call 472-4777! |
Medical Release and Health Forms
Students, members, and general public/guests are allowed one (1) free climb to become acquainted with the wall. Further climbing requires participation in an orientation & safety class (see below). All essential equipment, including seat harness, belay device, and climbing rope is provided. Additional gear such as climbing shoes and chalk bags can be rented at Husker Red's in the Campus Recreation Center.LEVEL 1- TOP ROPE CLIMBING CLASS
LEVEL 1 teaches the basic foundation of climbing wall techniques, equipment, policies, and procedures that are required to climb safely at the UNL Campus Rec Center. Completion of class provides a one (1) year climbing certification.

*Note: All climbing classes offered by Campus Recreation are designed for climbing at the NU Climbing Wall ONLY and DO NOT provide skills needed to climb on natural outdoor rock surfaces. All climbing wall patrons (regardless of past experience & skill level) are required to participate in and be certified through the Level I class.

LEVEL 2- LEAD ROPE CLIMBING CLASS
LEVEL 2 provides the foundation for an advanced technique which offers a more realistic outdoor experience on the indoor wall. Completion of class provides a one (1) year climbing certification.

One (1) Time Non-Member Climbing Wall Pass Guest climbing wall passes allow certified climbers into the building to use the indoor climbing wall during climbing wall hours. This pass does not all you to bring guests into the facility or use any other areas of the facility. You must be currently certified in the Climbing Class (Level I or II) to purchase the guest climbing passes. |

Registration & Information
Campus Recreation welcomes persons with all abilities. Please inquire about the availability of accommodations for special needs. Campus Recreation accepts cash/ check, Visa, MasterCard and N Card. Outdoor Recreation's headquarters is in the Campus Recreation Center, with outside access directly east of the main entrance. Space is limited in the Level I safety classes, registration should be done at least a day in advance. Group Rentals
University and community groups may rent the climbing wall for recreational activities. Rentals allow groups to have private, exclusive use of the wall during their scheduled time. Wall may be rented for a minimum of 3 hours and are available on Saturday & Sunday mornings. Rental rates are listed in the pricing section listed below.
