Graduate Program - Organizational Communication

Organizational Communication centers on the relationship between communication and organization through the study of discourse, meanings, symbols, and information flow. Specific areas of research of faculty and students include: emotion, socialization, gender, organizational change, negotiation and conflict management.

886 Organizational Communication

Examination of principles and theories relevant to communication behavior within organizations, which can be used to guide the way people communicate in organizations.

887 Consulting and Training in Communication

Examination of principles and theories relevant to communication behavior within organizations, which can be used to guide the way people communicate in organizations.

986A Perspectives in Organizational Communication

Perspectives in organizational communication range from a system-cultural-applied orientation to that of the paradigmatic. The course examines these various orientations, discusses strengths and weaknesses of each, and looks at empirical and theoretical research representative of these views.

986B Problems and Issues in Organizational Communication

Basic uses in the study of organizational communication ranging from differences in the structure of the organization itself to differences in the task activities or work units. The course focuses on how such differences influence the communication behavior of these involved.

986D Current Research in Organizational Communication

Surveys current research in organizational communication over a two-year period. Emphasis is upon the issues studied, the focus organizational communication research takes, and the methodology employed.
