Philanthropic Activities:
· Gabe’s Gang: With the selling of “Gabe’s Gang” wristbands and the annual “Gabe’s Gang” night at the Shelter, this philanthropic effort benefits the Beta Tau Chapter’s little buddy four year old Gabe Miller, and his family as they progress through Gabe’s intensive behavioral therapy. Gabe has Autism, and while there is no cure, this very expensive non-insured therapy can significantly improve his life. To find out more about Gabe’s Gang and how you can help check out www.gabesgang.com.
· Adopt-A-School: Clinton Elementary: We have a great relationship with the faculty of Clinton Elementary school here in Lincoln, Nebraska. While Clinton is often the benefactor of many of our fundraising charity events, we also take a very active role in mentoring the students and providing assistance to the faculty and parents during the school week and on special occasions. We’ve worked with them so much over the years that they have graciously named their school’s computer lab after Delta Tau Delta!
· M*A*S*H: Great BBQ, live music, games, sumo-suit wrestling, big glove boxing, and yes, an inflatable obstacle course! All proceeds go to support the brave men, women, and families who serve in our nation’s Armed Services.
· Spaghetti Splash: In May of 2003 a car accident took the life of one of our Delt brothers and an amazing student leader, Bob Foehlinger. The Student Alumni Association, with the full support of Delta Tau Delta and many other student organizations, developed a plan to honor his legacy with a fountain dedicated to Bobby in the Wick Alumni Center Holling Garden. Through the Spaghetti Splash Fundraiser, the sale of wristband with Bob’s personal motto: “Live, Love, Learn, Leave A Legacy”, and many generous donations; construction has begin on what will be a fitting tribute to a great student, friend, leader, Delt, and amazing person. For more information please visit the Spaghetti Splash website.
· The Bleed Purple Foundation: Delta Tau Delta’s new national philanthropic cause during our 150th anniversary celebration. Founded in 2006 by our fellow Delts at the University of San Diego (Theta Zeta Chapter), Bleed Purple strives as an organization to bring together the Greek community in an effort to support college students diagnosed with cancer. Visit www.BleedPurple.org for more information.
· Highway Cleanup: Once a year we travel to our adopted stretch of Nebraska Interstate to collect litter and do our part to help the environment.
· Safe Quarters: Working with Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority we were able to help raise $3,500 for the Friendship Home, an amazing organization that supports and assists victims of domestic violence.
· Relay For Life: What started as a Greek System wide philanthropy has swept campus and Delt always supports this important cause by participating as an entire chapter.
· Dance Marathon: Another great campus tradition that we feel is important to support as a chapter. We’ve actually won special awards for being the most enthusiastic team!
We also strongly encourage our members to also participate in other philanthropic activities outside of the chapter and reward them for their good deeds. You will always find Delts at philanthropic events held by our fellow Greek houses and student organizations as well as taking on volunteer work of their own in the community of Lincoln and their own hometowns. |

Strengthening community is one of Delt’s most respected values. We understand that each of us can make a positive impact on the lives of others, and that if we work together as a fraternity, our impact can become even greater. That’s why each year we organize events and activities to support important causes like our Adopt-a-School partner Clinton Elementary, the brave families who serve in our nation’s Armed Forces, and Autism therapy for our chapter’s little buddy Gabe Miller.
But for Delt it’s about much more than just raising donations, it’s about personal involvement. We volunteer at Clinton Elementary events, have members and alumni who are involved in the military, and spend time with the Miller family each semester. |
