Opportunities and Resources

 

The Department of Psychology offers excellent research facilities and opportunities, including:

 

bulletThe Developmental Research Laboratory is a suite of research rooms that includes two observation rooms equipped with one-way windows, a video room, and several workrooms for student assistants. The lab is equipped with color video cameras remotely controlled from the video room, highly sensitive audio equipment,  and digitizing equipment for the creation of research DVDs.
bulletThe multidisciplinary Center for Children, Families, and the Law, which emphasizes the integration of developmental research with public policy issues concerning children and families
bulletThe long-standing Nebraska Symposium on Motivation, which brings top scholars from around the world to UNL each spring.
bulletMany developmental faculty collaborate with researchers internationally (e.g., Brazil, Australia, Mexico, Italy, Norway, Turkey, China).

Additional resources outside of the Psychology Department for research include:

bulletThe Ruth Staples Child Development Laboratory which provides practicum training as well as a research site for the study of preschoolers and families
bulletAn infant research laboratory
bulletField research opportunities, and the local public schools are a regular site for the study of school-age children and adolescents
