What is Supplemental Instruction?

Supplemental Instruction is a program designed to assist UNL students with an academic orientation and support mechanism through the guidance of Peer Mentors.

Supplemental Instruction (SI) is a program with a proven record of increasing undergraduate students' academic success. The SI program is led by a trained graduate student Supervisor and facilitated by undergraduate Peer Mentors who help students integrate course learning and improve reasoning and critical thinking skills.   The Peer Mentors attend the class they are supporting and then offer SI help sessions several times during the week.  Student participation is voluntary but students who choose to go to SI sessions tend to perform better in the class than those who do not.
