 4. Coach Callahan Fun Run/Walk Aug. 20

The second-annual Coach Callahan Charities Fun Run/Walk is scheduled for 
the morning of Aug. 20.  All proceeds from the Fun Run/Walk will be 
donated to the UNL Libraries Electronic Resources Fund and toward Juvenile

 5. Next tornado systems test Aug. 3

UNL joins Lincoln/Lancaster County Emergency Management in testing all 
tornado-warning systems on the first Wednesday of each month at 
approximately 10:15am. The next test is scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 3.

 6. Flow cytometry services free through Sept. 30

The Flow Cytometry Core, a UNL shared resource provided by the Nebraska 
Center for Virology and the Center for Biotechnology, is offering free 
services for all university researchers through Sept. 30. This is a 
valuable cell analysis tool which uses fluorescent probes to detect 
specific cell associated molecules, and allows measurements of various 
phenotypic, biochemical and molecular characteristics of individual cells 
(or particles). Specific applications include: immunophenotyping, cell 
cycle and DNA content analysis, protein expression. Bead based assays are 
available for signal transduction molecules, soluble proteins cytokines, 
growth factors, and DNA fragments. Cell isolation by FACS sorting is also

Do you have 35mm slides that you would like to share with students or 
other faculty? From 11 a.m. to noon Aug. 4 in ARCH 116 an introductory 
workshop will demonstrate how you can digitize your slides so that they 
can be used for purposes such as print, PowerPoint presentations or the 
web. Don't let your old slides gather dust. Learn how you can digitize

11. Flatwater Native Film Festival begins Aug. 6

The Flatwater Native Film Festival features contemporary American Indian 
stories, Aug. 6-18 at the Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center in Lincoln. 
Native American Public Telecommunications brings one world and five 
regional premieres to the Ross Theater with four filmmakers to discuss 
their work. A total of fifteen films by Native American filmmakers will be
