Parking and Traffic Congestion this Week Finding yourself frustrated with the construction and changing traffic patterns around campus? The Office of University Housing would like to remind you that Wednesday through Saturday of this week (May 4-7), there will be additional congestion and changes in traffic patterns on 14th, 16th, and 17th Streets as about 4,000 residence hall students, their parents, and extra vehicles move students home for the summer. Watch for barricades and officers providing extra traffic control around the residence halls. Please drive carefully, and plan extra time for travel as these areas will be extremely congested. If possible, consider alternate parking and/or travel routes to avoid the areas adjacent to the City Campus residence halls. ************************************************************************* 2. Year-end deadlines for Fiscal Year 2004-2005 Departments are encouraged to carefully review their financial status to assure that planned expenditures in advance of year-end can be processed early. Deadlines for year-end processing are now available in SLUGO Downloads (see website below), and by clicking on "Fiscal Year End Calendar" on the UNL Purchasing web site <http://purchasing.unl.edu/>. Contact information for questions can be found on the year-end document itself. http://unebapps01.nebraska.edu/slugo/download.nsf/31698d01fe88cac2862568c80054711d/f82e61c457a92fc786256fe4006e47d4?OpenDocument ************************************************************************* 3. Annual Steam Outages 2005 The planning for the Annual Steam Outages has begun. It is necessary to shut down the centralized steam distribution system to conduct required maintenance of equipment including replacing and upgrading many key components of the University's Utility System. The outages will occur on the following dates depending upon an average weekly high temperature of 60 degrees or more: City Campus only from May 8th through May 14th; East Campus only from May 15th through May 21st. We have selected these dates due to the lower student activity on campus. During these Steam Outages, there will be no heating and no process steam available in those building systems served by campus steam. In order to help us plan for these outages, please contact the Utility Services Construction Coordinator, Charlie Griesen, at 472-8612 or cgriesen2@unl.edu with any questions or concerns regarding processes requiring steam. Thank you! ************************************************************************* 4.
