deadline for returning the rosters to the Graduation Services

 4. University employees can view their benefit plans online

University employees can view their benefit plans online.
Employee Self Service (ESS) provides benefit eligible
employees online access to their personal data stored in SAP,
the university's administrative computing system. Through the
ESS website employees can select the benefit participation
overview to view their benefit plans for which they are
currently enrolled. Health insurance plans will display the
type of plan, plan options and coverage, monthly costs for
employee and employer and dependents. Invest plans will display
the type of plan, the regular contribution, bonus contribution,
and investments. Employees need a user ID / password to access
their information. Contact Beth Benson via email at

 7. Katrina Relief Trip Leaders Needed

Katrina Relief Coalition is organizing a winter break Katrina
Relief Trip, slated for Jan. 2-7. They are currently seeking
participants (students) and trip leaders (UNL faculty and
staff). Leaders will be responsible for leading reflection
activities, tracking expenses, potentially serving as van
drivers, and general supervision of students. The trip is free
for trip leaders. If you are interested in this once-in-a-lifetime

 8. NSF Major Research Instrumentation Grants 2006

Call for Pre-Proposals - NSF Major Research Instrumentation
Grants 2006. NSF has issued a request for proposals for the
Major Research Instrumentation proposals with a deadline of
Jan. 26, 2006. Grant amounts range from $100,000 to $2
million. NSF anticipates making 220 awards from a total funding
pool of $90M. UNL is limited to the submission of three
proposals as either the primary or subaward recipient. In order
to select the best proposals for submission, we are soliciting
pre-proposals. The deadline for electronic submissions (Word
format) of pre-proposals is 4 p.m., Monday, Nov. 21, 2005.

The Office of Research has announced the 2006-2007 Layman
Awards request for proposals. Layman Awards are aimed at
providing seed money for projects that will enhance faculty
members' ability to obtain external funding or produce prominent
scholarly work. Layman Trust Funds of $298,310 will be available
for awards for the summer of 2006 and the 2006-2007 academic year.
