10. Watch Out For Fake Credit Union E-mails

Check scams, sweepstakes scams and phishing are becoming more
and more common. There are many ways criminals trick people into
giving out information. Sometimes they pretend to be a credit
union, bank or even the IRS. Lately, members have told us they
have received e-mails that appear to be from the "National
Credit Union Association" or "University Credit Union" at their
campus e-mail addresses. Please beware - these e-mails are not
from us. Legitimate financial institutions would never send
e-mail to members/customers asking for personal financial
information. To learn how to avoid these scams please stop by
The University of Nebraska Federal Credit Union at 1630 Q St.
for free brochures or visit our website for detailed articles on
these scams.
