Next tornado systems test is Oct. 5 UNL joins Lincoln/Lancaster County Emergency Management in testing all tornado-warning systems on the first Wednesday of each month at 10:15 a.m. There is no need to take shelter during the test - this is a test of the tornado systems only. ************************************************************************* 2. Convocations Committee Seeks Funding Applications Academic Senate Convocations Committee seeks funding applications for Spring term speakers. Campus Discussion on Gen Ed After the Chancellor's State of the University Address we initiated a campus-wide discussion board to elicit good thinking and broad discussion about what a general education program should accomplish. Faculty and students who log into My.UNL will find - under "My.UNL News" - a link to that discussion board where they'll be asked to think about what all students - regardless of their majors - should know and be able to do when they graduate with a bachelor's degree from UNL. An interesting discussion, thus far mostly by students, is developing there. The General Education Planning Team and the General Education Advisory Committee are paying attention to the perspectives voiced there.
